Not too long ago, Haute Arabia had an interview with Fufistylist and Abaya designer Fatma Ghanem were in she had expressed about a dream of working for a cause that could make a difference. Making that dream a reality happened so quick and here we are trying to catch up with her realisation of the dream. Partnering with National Center for Cancer Care and Research in Doha- Al Amal Hospital, for a cause that needs much support. The idea of the event was initiated by Fatma, who decided to use her talent to help the community. The Charity Fashion Show became a part of Cancer Awareness Campaign developed with support of FN Advertising, boutique advertising agency, which took care of marketing materials and media.
Choosing the 8th of March, a day which the world marks as the International Women’s Day, Fatma made herself an iconic role model for the young girls and ladies by running an event of great significance in style. Models adorned in the designer’s soul of the 60’s collections walked the runway to showcase Fatma’s SS2013 collections. Many important messages were given out to raise the awareness of Cancer in the lives of the people. Art works and abayas were part of an auction that were used to raise funds to donate to to National Center for Cancer Care & Research.
Some of the advice that we took back from the event included some tips to reduce risk of cancer.
“STOP SMOKING! It is 100% linked to cancer, Why pollute your body?” was one of the messages that made a strong impact on those present at the event!
Aside from the Abayas that went on auction there were also paintings from local artists that went up on auction that gave out strong messages.
And to put down the pen for the day here is a message from Al Amal Campaign to everyone:
To reduce risk of cancer you need to make just 3 changes in your lifestyle: don’t smoke, keep active and eat 5 daily portions of fruits and vegetables.
