Only 4% of women consider themselves beautiful – The Dove social experiment explores how women view their own beauty in contrast to what others see

This Monday April 14th, 2013 Dove who  have recently won enormous praise for their ‘Real Beauty” campaign which features women of all shapes and sizes posted a new ad on YouTube that is emotional, intelligent, engaging and has clearly made worldwide impact with over 6 million views already.

Gil Zamora, an FBI-trained forensic artist draws women as they describe themselves without seeing them, he then asks one person who was asked to spend a few minutes getting to know them to describe them. The difference in the two sketches of every participant is incredible.

As Dove explains, “Women are their own worst beauty critics. Only 4% of women around the world consider themselves beautiful. At Dove, we are committed to creating a world where beauty is a source of confidence, not anxiety. So, we decided to conduct a compelling social experiment that explores how women view their own beauty in contrast to what others see”

Dove have created a seriously intelligent campaign, a campaign for once about being honest, providing something inspirational and motivational and not a manipulation of women to force them to buy products, a YouTube video with every reason to go viral.
