Uniqlo x Hana Tajima Modest Collection

Yesterday we were talking to you about the fashion industry falling head over heels for Ramadan. Well today Uniqlo released a whole new collection in collaboration with Hana Tajima, modest fashion designer, dedicated to Muslim women.

After collaborating with Pharell Williams, Ines de la Fressange and Disney, Uniqlo gets interested now in modest fashion.

This brand’s new collection consists of sporty hijab, very useful for workout but also very pretty, maxi dresses, pleated skirts, original tunics, and many other items we cannot wait to try on. There are also some Indonesian traditional inspired pieces. The collection is minimal, following Uniqlo’s motto. The clothes are very affordable, which is a nice thing, and even though Uniqlo first aims at muslim women, the collection is totally suitable for non-hijabis wishing to wear comfortable yet stylish attire.

Hana Tajima said that “when it comes to buying clothes, on the one hand you have traditional styles that really target you as a ‘Muslim woman of [insert regional heritage],’. But for a lot of women, a singular and specific cultural identity isn’t what they relate to… there is a lot of ingenuity and making do with what’s available on the high-street, but you just don’t find clothes that were made for you. A line of modest clothing was a way to reach a lot of people who are very often overlooked.” Every hijabi can relate…

She added “We want to create a collection that not only appeals to modern ladies who prefer to dress modestly, but also an international audience who desire clothes that fit comfortably and look contemporary. My collection is specially designed to allow effortless mix and match for the today’s women to express their own style.”

One of the ambassador of the collection will be the Malaysian singer Yuna.

The collection will be exclusively available Uniqlo 313@Somerset in Singapore and the online store (www.uniqlo.com/sg).

We are very excited about this collection in particular, and about the fashion industry getting more and more interested in modest fashion in general. Here, at Haute Arabia, we’ll bring you, as usual, all news about the latest trends, being the first portal to luxury conservative and modest fashion.
